Meeting on May 8 at 2pm in E239

Hello everyone. This semester has been a very slow one for the Linux Users' Group, but I'd like to hold a quick meeting next Thursday to try and get some ideas for what next semester will have in store. We're also looking for new officers, so please stop by and get involved!

Thanks,
Andrew

LinuxWorld + Fall 2007

Hey Kids. In case you didn't see it on the Google Group, LinuxWorld is THIS week. I recommend you check it out if you're interested in learning about the latest trends in enterprise software. There's also a handful of organizations that are Linux-oriented. These are typically found in the .org Pavillion.

On a separate note, the officers will get together on or around the first week of the Fall semester to set a date and location for our first meeting. As always, input is greatly appreciated as the Google Group remains as our primary location for discussions and thought sharing. So, if you haven't joined the group, please do and help us out!

Thanks,
Andrew

Reminder: Meeting on 3/8

Hello everyone. I just wanted to put a reminder out there that we're having our bi-weekly meeting this Thursday the 8th in the usual spot - The Ohlone Room in the Student Union. I'm currently making the meeting agenda, so if there's something you'd like time dedicated to discussing, please post it on the Google Group under the 'Meeting 3/8' discussion. Thanks.

LUG Website running on the Beast!

Though datacenter hosting comes through with some good uptimes, there's nothing quite like hosting your own site -- especially when it's on a quad-processor, 4gb RAM, Sun-based, debian-running monster like the Beast. Thanks to Mr. Luine for getting the machine configured, sjsulug.org now serves this site and is not merely a redirect.

Linux Installfest to be held Saturday, February 24th

The LUG will be holding a Linux Installfest on Saturday, February 24th! Installfests give people a day-long opportunity to get help installing Linux, troubleshooting an existing installation, or just generally work on Linux issues. This installfest will be held in the Computer Science Club, located on the 2nd floor of MacQuarrie Hall in Room 227, and will run from 11am to 4pm. More details about what to bring, location, etc can be found on the installfest page.

UPDATE: The installfest was very successful with approximately 8 new Linux installs. Check out the photos from the event.

Special Election Meeting to be held

Attention LUG members, if you are interested in running for one of the offices in the Linux Users' Group, please attend the special election meeting on Monday 2/12 in room E239 at 12.00pm. This meeting is being held because the Group Constitution states that the semester's elections are to be held on the first meeting of that semester. We, unfortunately, forgot to do this at the last meeting. In addition to the general elections, we will re-vote on the matter of creating the Treasurer position, as the vote held at Thursday's meeting cannot be verified because there is no record of which members attended and how they voted on the amendment.
